LAHORE:Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Minister Zeeshan Rafiq, while presiding over a video link meeting of CEOs of waste management companies across Punjab, has said that the work on implementing a uniform sanitation system in the province should be completed within the stipulated time frame.
During the meeting, progress in the process of outsourcing the sanitation system was reviewed in detail. Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmed Mian and LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din also attended.
The minister said that the chief minister wants long-lasting and high-quality sanitation system in Punjab. ‘There will be no change in the deadline set by the CM to implement this system. So waste management companies should ensure timely completion of the model project’, he warned. He categorically said that we do not want to make claims but people would see a pleasant change soon.
He said that public cooperation was most important in the pilot sanitation project. ‘Therefore, all possible participation of the citizens will be ensured in this regard’, pledged the minister. He said that the local government department was devising a mechanism for effective monitoring of private companies after establishment of outsourcing model.
