ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has clarified that no ‘ghost medical college’ exists in the country as all the public and private medical colleges are regularly inspected by the monitoring teams of the regulatory body.
“There are no ghost medical colleges at all. The Senate panel never discussed that issue. Instead, the members were referring to issues concerning ghost nursing colleges,” a spokesperson for the PMDC said on Tuesday. Senator Dr. Humayun Mohmand, a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Health, also clarified that he had mentioned the existence of ‘ghost nursing colleges’ during the meeting but added that in the press release issued by the Senate Media Cell, his words were twisted and it gave the impression that he was referring to ghost medical colleges.
“I have mentioned about the presence of ghost nursing schools and colleges which are producing low, poor quality nurses,” Dr. Humayun Mohmand clarified.
