Rawalpindi:A 22-year-old inmate awaiting trial was allegedly killed with the involvement of prison staff and his body was then taken to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) to conceal the truth, as reported by the police. The Sadar Bairuni police have filed a first information report (FIR) based on the complaint of the victim’s father and are currently conducting an investigation.

Shahid Nisar Bhatti lodged a complaint with the Sadar Bairuni police station, stating that his 22-year-old son, Shahwaiz Bhatti, was sent to jail on judicial remand in May 2024. He mentioned that a dispute had arisen between his son and other inmates, led by Saim Abbas, following an altercation. He further explained that he received a message from the jail informing him that his son had been transferred to DHQ in critical condition. Rushing to DHQ, he discovered that his son had passed away.

The complainant was informed by his son's friends in jail that his adversaries, with the help of prison staff, had killed him and moved his body to the hospital. An investigation has been initiated by the police.
