Exit Control List: PTI leader moves PHC against FIA
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai has moved the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for stopping him from going abroad.
Shaukat Yousafzai, who is a former provincial minister, filed a writ petition through Syed Sikandar Shah Advocate in which the federal government and the FIA were made respondents.
The petitioner said that he was stopped from leaving the country to perform Umrah in January this year, adding that now he was offloaded from a plane at Islamabad to prevent him from going to the UK. He said that he had secured bail from courts in connection with the cases registered against him. He argued that under the law, he could not be stopped from leaving the country.
He said that he was a senior leader of the PTI and had served as provincial minister for two terms. Shaukat Yousafzai said that he was going to the UK to meet his daughter, therefore, his name should be removed from the Exit Control List. The petitioner said that the FIA had placed his name on the Exit Control List to prevent him from going abroad. He said that he had not committed any crime and was a law-abiding citizen of Pakistan. Shaukat Yousafzai said that he was facing political victimization for supporting former prime minister Imran Khan.
