PMA demands conducive environment for doctors
LAHORE:The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has said more than 40,000 doctors, duly registered with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), are not practicing medicine due to government’s 'indifferent' attitude, administrative inattention and lack of conducive environment.
“Pakistan's health sector currently lacks one million nurses,” said Prof Dr Ashraf Nizami, President, PMA Lahore and General Secretary Prof Dr Shahid Malik in a statement issued here on Tuesday. At this stage, instead of making partial and popular decisions, they said that there is a dire need for the government to adopt effective and far-reaching plans by adopting the prevailing principles in the world public health practices so that the international agreements made in the health sector can also be respected.
