ISLAMABAD: On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, under the relief package, Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has prepared a one-year plan to buy sugar in an emergency situation.
According to the sources, applications have been invited from sugar mills for pre-qualification till July 22. Under the Prime Minister’s relief package, the Utility Stores Corporation has taken steps to buy sugar for the emergency situation.
Sources say that an open framework contract will be entered into with the selected bidders for one year and if necessary, Utility Stores will be able to purchase sugar from pre-qualified sugar mills without open tender. Utility Stores Corporation will be able to purchase sugar from pre-qualified sugar mills on short notice.
