Bilawal says PPP stance on terrorism clear
PPP chairman praises PM Shehbaz for summoning APC to address reservations on Operation Azm-e-Istehkam
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said his party had a clear stance on terrorism and it believes past mistakes should not be repeated.
Talking to reporters at the Governor’s House here, he said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was to play the frontline role against terrorism. He criticized the former cabinet members, who admitted that facilitators of terrorists were provided funds from the government budget in the past.
The PPP chairman said all those who made the wrong decisions in the past should be held accountable. Bilawal said that hardened criminals released from Afghan prisons were invited to resettle in KP.
The PPP chairman said the government had called an All Parties Conference over the issue of terrorism and his party would give its input there. He said no one should politicize national security. “The PPP has a clear stance on the issue of terrorism and that is why Gen (R) Bajwa and Lt Gen (R) Faiz appeared before the Parliament in the past and briefed the lawmakers on the issue,” said Bilawal. He said that economic condition of the country was linked with the security situation. He pointed out that the economy would turn around when the law and order improved. The PPP chairman said that they didn’t need any ministry but wanted the government to resolve the issues facing the people. He said the PPP had assured support to the federal government for its steps for the welfare of the public. He said there was a lack of positive politics in the country. To a question about the provision of free 300 electricity units to consumers, Bilawal said that it was part of his party manifesto and he would implement it after becoming the prime minister. Earlier, Bilawal held a meeting with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi during his visit to Peshawar. He was received by the governor on his arrival to the Governor’s House. The PPP chairman discussed with the governor the law and order and the political situation of the province. Bilawal also met a delegation of male and female players of different games led by former world squash champion Jansher Khan. He presented shields to the former champions of different games. Several delegations held meetings with the PPP chairman during his visit to the provincial capital.
