It was heartening to learn that the Capital Development Authority has recently started an e-bus service in Islamabad, including a public transport route for the people of Bari Imam. It is indeed a commendable initiative on the part of the government, as the old diplomatic enclave route for public transport was stalled by the local authorities, forcing the locals to use the Malpur route. Later on, this route was also abandoned. This created a nuisance for the local community as they had to travel 10 kilometres further to reach their destinations.
More such initiatives are needed as the residents of this area lack many facilities. The authorities once proposed to make Bari Imam a modal village but unfortunately no action has yet been taken. There is no bank or ATM in our area, the roads and bridges are in a dilapidated condition, and there is no gas. Most of the sewerage lines are broken and there is no waste management. The government and local authorities need to address the above-mentioned issues.
