KP CM wants management devolved in health and education sectors

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Sunday called for devolving management in the health and education sectors to improve and streamline the state of affairs.

He said this while chairing a meeting that discussed reforms in the two sectors. Several decisions were taken to ensure efficient management and improve service delivery to the desired level, said a handout.

The chief minister directed the officials to post additional directors-general at the regional level for better and more efficient management.

He said such large departments with huge human resources could not be managed efficiently from the provincial level, adding service delivery could be improved only when managed at the local level.

The chief minister directed that teachers and paramedical staff recruited on a domicile basis should be reposted in the areas of their respective domicile where they were supposed to serve, and necessary amendments be proposed in the relevant laws for this purpose.

He directed the high-ups of the Health Department to collect complete data on the unused or under-used medical equipment in all the government hospitals of the province within a week.

Gandapur said steps should be taken to put the medical equipment to use or else should be shifted to hospitals where they could be utilized.

The chief minister underscored the need for digitizing the health and education departments for better utilization of resources and effective monitoring of service delivery.

He was satisfied with the improvement in the primary healthcare system and said efforts should continue to strengthen the system to ensure treatment facilities for the people at the local level.

Gandapur directed the officials that there should be no transfer of teachers without vacant posts in the Education Department.

Apart from this, he said, the appointment of teaching cadre employees against administrative positions should be stopped.

He said the teaching cadre and management cadre should be kept separately in the health and education department.

Matters related to the launching of the Education Card on the analogy of the Health card were also discussed to facilitate the children’s admissions to the private sector schools in areas where public sector schools did not exist or were inaccessible for any reason.
