Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said that the municipal agencies across the province would perform their functions round the clock during the month of Muharram.

Ghani visited different Imambargahs and the routes of the Muharram processions in Karachi. He visited Nishtar Park, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khorasan, Tahiri Masjid, Hussainian Imambargah in Kharadar, Bara Imambargah, Imambargah Babul Ilm, Mohsin Imambargah Ancholi and other Imambargahs in the city. He talked to their managements about the Muharram arrangements.

He told them that ample arrangements have been made to ensure functioning street lights, continuous water supply, sanitation, functional sewerage system, and road carpeting. He said the provincial government has appointed focal persons for the resolution of relevant complaints of an urgent nature.

He also visited the areas in the immediate neighbourhood of the Imambargahs, and the venues of the Muharram congregations to inspect the street lights, the water supply and sewerage systems, and the condition of the roads.

He said the provincial government would do its best to provide all the due civic and municipal facilities to the mourners during the month of Muharram. He also said work has been launched to ensure carpeting of dilapidated roads, and it would be completed soon.

Ghani said the Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has been asked to ensure uninterrupted water supply to Imambargahs and other venues of Muharram congregations.

He said the provincial government would also ensure the best sanitation arrangements for such venues in the city. He also said the focal persons appointed to resolve such complaints would remain in touch with the stakeholders.

The minister said that the management of all Imambargahs have been completely satisfied with the government’s arrangements. He said that the remaining civic issues in such areas would be resolved overnight.

He also said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), and the towns and other municipal agencies in the city would provide their services in this regard round the clock.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh General Secretary Waqar Mehdi, PPP District East office-bearers, KMC municipal commissioners, the KWSC CEO, Sindh Solid Waste Management Board officials, deputy commissioners and senior police officials accompanied the LG minister on the occasion.
