Two drown in River Panjkora
DIR: Two people have drowned in River Panjkora in the Wari area of Upper Dir district.
One body was recovered, while the search for the second body was underway till the filing of this report.
According to Upper Dir Rescue spokesperson Ibrahim Khan, the two young men went missing while bathing in the river. Rescue 1122 and Civil Defense volunteers rushed to the scene and launched a search operation.
The body of one person, identified as Zahir Khan, hailing from Kass Chapar area, was recovered from the river in Khal area of Lower Dir, on Friday evening. However, the search for the second missing person, Shahriyar, a young man from Peshawar, was still going on.
Local residents reported that one of the individuals was trying to save his friend when he fell into the river and drowned. The search operation by Rescue personnel and Civil Defense volunteers continued into the second day.
