LAHORE: The Punjab government is committed to Muslim unity and considers addressing the issues of the Shia community a religious duty.
Comprehensive measures have been taken to resolve all issues faced by organisers of licenced central gatherings and processions during Muharram, with a focus on providing foolproof security.
Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman and Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of licence holders of central Muharram processions and gatherings, led by Agha Shah Hussain, at the Civil Secretariat Darbar Hall.
Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman informed the delegation that, under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a committee comprising various ministers and government officials was formed to maintain law and order and ensure public safety in the province.
This committee regularly reviews the situation and addresses issues faced by all sections of society, regardless of religion or sect. The Shia community is encouraged to reach out for assistance throughout the year, not just during Muharram.
