Islamia College alumni to hold general body meeting in Nov

PESHAWAR: The sixty-third meeting of the Executive Committee of the Senior Alumni Association Islamia College has decided to hold the general body meeting of the association in November this year.

Chaired by association President Muhammad Zaman Khan, the committee unanimously agreed to convene the general body on November 23, 2024. The meeting also reviewed logistics and other arrangements, and formed a committee to ensure the general body’s success.

Prof Dr Ali Muhammad Yousufzai, Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College, and Prof Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai, chairman of Peshawar’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, were special guests at the conference.

The vice-chancellor briefed the alumni cabinet committee on ongoing and upcoming development projects at the college. He informed the meeting that the administration was striving to improve the college’s financial management.

Ali mentioned various development initiatives, such as a solarisation project in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission, would help the college reduce electricity costs. He also outlined other programmes aimed at enhancing the college’s academic and extracurricular activities.

The vice-chancellor urged the alumni cabinet to use their contacts to fix the college’s long-awaited property rental difficulties. The college receives fairly low rentals from these assets, but rents in the private sector have increased significantly in recent years. He urged alumni to assist the college in reclaiming properties from illegal occupations, and increasing monthly rental incomes.The vice-chancellor also praised the alumni for their contributions to promoting the college’s image and providing scholarships to deserving students. The alumni representatives also proposed many ways to boost the college’s cash flows.The alumni representatives also proposed several strategies to enhance the college’s financial resources.
