PESHAWAR: In response to the extreme heat wave in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, air coolers have been provided to prisoners and staff at Central Jail Mardan for the first time.An official communique issued here stated that the measures were aimed at ensuring comfort during the intense heat.
According to Superintendent Najam Abbasi, air-coolers have been installed in various sections of the jail, starting with the juvenile prisoners’ barracks. The installation will extend to other prisoner barracks in subsequent phases.
Abbasi highlighted that the initiative was a first for any prison in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, undertaken through the efforts of various jail officers and staff.He also emphasised on the importance of providing vocational training to inmates, allowing them to lead dignified lives post-release.
He praised Deputy Superintendent Rizwan Shah, Shaukat Ali and Line Officer Sardar Sajid Hussain for their efforts in arranging the air coolers and directed the jail staff to continue providing other facilities to the prisoners.
