PHC seeks details of cases against Asad Qaiser
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday sought a reply from the Interior Ministry in a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser to get the details of the cases instituted against him.
A two-member bench of the PHC comprising Justice Ijaz Anwar and Justice Arshad Ali heard the case.Arshad Ahmad Advocate appeared for the petitioner who is a former speaker of the National Assembly.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was represented by Additional Director (Legal) Abdur Rehman Afridi.The counsel for the petitioner asked the court to direct the relevant officials to provide the details of cases registered against his client who was a member of the National Assembly and from an opposition party.
The FIA additional director (Legal) submitted to the court that there was an inquiry against him at the agency’s Peshawar office.National Accountability Bureau Special Prosecutor General Muhammad Ali told the court that there was no case against the petitioner in the anti-corruption watchdog.
The counsel for the petitioner requested the court to ask the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) as well if there was any case against his client.The bench entertained the request by the petitioner, made the Interior secretary a party to the case and adjourned the hearing into the case.
