Bail plea rejection: Two accused escape from court premises

PESHAWAR: Two accused managed to escape after a local court rejected their interim bail here on Thursday.A model court rejected the interim bail applications of two accused in a case involving the assault and taking a sub-divisional officer (SDO) of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) hostage. Following the court’s decision, the accused managed to escape, prompting the court to issue arrest warrants for them.
According to the prosecution, on June 13, during a Pesco operation, local councillors Zahid Bahadur and Gul Afzal assaulted SDO Ahmed Mumtaz and held him hostage in a hujra. The SDO filed a case against the two accused at the Khazana Police Station, charging them with attempted murder and physical assault.
