Chromebooks to be provided to 200 schools

LAHORE: Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Tech Valley UK and Canada have signed an agreement to provide Chromebooks to 200 schools in Punjab.

According to a handout issued on Thursday, Tech Valley will also offer IT training to 10,000 students and teachers in Punjab with the support of Google for Education. The provincial school education minister described the agreement with Tech Valley as a significant step towards Digital Punjab. He emphasised the importance of tech education and announced that they were advancing towards middle, matric, and intermediate levels of tech education. Soon, there will be options to pursue matriculation and intermediate studies in information technology, alongside science and arts subjects.

The minister also claimed that Google had decided to assemble Chromebooks in Punjab, which was excellent news for information technology professionals. He also announced that Google-certified courses worth millions of dollars would be made available free of cost to the youth of Punjab.
