Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, like its predecessors, raises critical questions about its efficacy in addressing Pakistan's socio-political challenges. Previous operations beg the question: Are we truly addressing the root causes of extremism? Should we not focus more on inclusive socio-economic and political reforms? It is imperative to ask how we can ensure sustainable peace without addressing the grievances that fuel extremism? What role should civil society and local governance play in preventing radicalization?
Moving forward, Pakistan must prioritize reforms that empower communities, enhance education, and ensure equitable economic opportunities. True security lies not only in military operations but in promoting inclusive governance and addressing socio-economic disparities.
