PESHAWAR: The speakers at a seminar here on Tuesday termed late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi as a great leader who offered services not only to his country but also championed the cause of the Palestinian people.
The seminar was arranged at the Cultural Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pay tributes to the late president who lost his life in a helicopter crash in Iran on May 19, this year. The helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi had crashed in the north-western province of East Azerbaijan, taking the life of the president along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six others including the East Azerbaijan governor.
The seminar at the Khana-e-Farhang was hosted in the Imam Khomeini Hall to mark the Chehum of Ebrahim Raisi and other martyrs of the tragedy. The hall has been named after Imam Khomeini who led the Islamic Revolution in Iran on February 11, 1979.
The Iranian Cultural Centre and Imamia Council for Inter-Faith Harmony had joined hands to arrange the programme.Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Peshawar, Ali Banafshehkhah and Director General of the Iranian Cultural Centre, Dr Hossein Chaghgomi, welcomed the participants.
Among the speakers were senior politician Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra, Member Provincial Assembly Jalal Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sabir Hussain Awan, Allama Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari of Shia Ulema Council, Syed Fayyaz Shah of Qaumi Wattan Party, Aalmi Muttahida Ulema Wo Mashaikh Council Chairman Maulana Muhammad Shuaib, Imamia Council Chairman Syed Azhar Ali Shah, Syed Muhammad Taqi Zaidi of Majlis-e-Wahadat Muslimeen, Allama Syed Iqrar Sheerazi, Allama Muhammad Basheer Jamarani, Allama Abid Hussain Shakiri and others.
The speakers said the late Ebrahim Raisi was a great leader of the Islamic world. They said the late Iranian president wanted the liberation of Al-Aqsa and occupied Palestine.They said figures like Shaheed General Qasim Sulaimani and Shaheed Syed Ebrahim Raisi worked tirelessly to strengthen the defence of Iran, adding the state of Israel, which once considered itself invincible, was now fighting for its survival.
Ali Banafshekha and Dr Hossein Chaghomi thanked all the participants of the seminar and the Pakistani nation in general for sharing the grief of their Irani brethren who lost a great leader Ebrahim Raisi and others in a tragedy.
