LAHORE:Hot and humid weather with scattered rain was observed in the City here on Tuesday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met officials said moist currents from Arabian sea were penetrating upper parts of the country and likely to strengthen from Wednesday (today). They predicted that hot and humid weather was expected in most parts of the country. However, rain windstorm/thundershower was expected at isolated places in Kashmir, upper Punjab, Potohar region, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Balochistan and southeast Sindh. Rainfall was also witnessed at other cities, including Balakot, Saidu Sharif, Malam Jabba, Kakul, Dir, Rawalakot, Garhi Dupatta, Barkhan, Murree and Narowal. Tuesday’s maximum temperature was recorded at Sibbi where mercury reached 48°C, while in Lahore, it was 38.4°C and minimum was 25.5°C. On the other hand, data collected from the Met office revealed that near to average rainfall (18.2 mm) was recorded in June 2024. The data revealed that the heaviest one-day rainfall of 73.6 mm occurred at Joharabad (Punjab) on 28th June. Whereas, Malam Jabba has been the wettest place with monthly total rainfall of 132. mm. The national mean monthly temperature of 32.16 °C for Pakistan (with +0.18 °C anomaly) was slightly warmer than country-average of 31.98 °C.
