An IT student who was kidnapped in Karachi’s Manzoor Colony was rescued by the Hyderabad police while they were checking vehicles in the Naseem Nagar area.
Police said they signalled a suspicious black Corolla coming from Karachi to stop, but the driver tried to speed away. The law enforcers chased the car, but the suspects threw the youth out of the car and escaped.
According to the statement of the IT student identified as Atif Jatt, some suspects forced him to get into the car, then drove out of Karachi. Jatt said the suspects in the car were questioning him about website hacking, adding that he told his kidnappers that he does not and cannot do such things.
After Jatt’s family was informed about the rescue, the student left for Karachi with his family, who refused any legal action, but thanked Hyderabad SSP Dr Farrukh Ali, Naseem Nagar checkpoint incharge Muzaffar Khalidi and the entire police team.
