Two killed in Kohistan road accident

MANSEHRA: Two persons were killed and another three sustained critical injuries when a mini truck skidded off the Karakoram Highway and plunged into a deep ravine in the Loter area of Upper Kohistan on Monday.

“We retrieved all five injured and shifted them to the nearby health facility,” Abdur Rehman an official of Rescue 1122, told reporters. The mini truck was on its way to Rawalpindi from Gilgit when its driver lost control of the steering while negotiating a sharp turn. The vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ravine.

The rescue 1122 team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the civil hospital in Dasu where doctors pronounced Amir Nawaz and Hameedullah dead. The bodies were handed over to their respective families.

The injured included Shah Khalid, Hameedullah and Murad Khan. They were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital in Abbottabad where the condition of one of them was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child drowned in the Siren River in the Dabi Pattan area of the district. Mohammad Faizan who had come from Karachi to his grandparents’ house in Pulrah along with his family went to Siren River to swim and suddenly slipped into deep waters and drowned. The body was later on fished out and handed over to the family.
