Ali Gilani to get rousing welcome in Multan

MULTAN: The Pakistan People’s Party will give a rousing welcome to former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider Gilani on his arrival in his hometown, Multan, on May 17.
Talking to The News here on Monday, PPP senior leader Khawaja Rizwan Alam said that Ali Haider Gilani along with his father Yusuf Raza Gilani would arrive in Multan in a special plane. He said that the PPP workers would receive Ali Gilani at Jamilabad Chowk from where he would be brought to the Gilani House in a procession.
Khawaja Rizwan Alam said that former MNAs Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani and Syed Ali Musa Gilani had already reached Multan to organise the reception. Meanwhile, a meeting was held to finalise reception arrangements. Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Malik Nasim Labar, AD Baloch, PLF south Punjab ex-general secretary Sheikh Ghiasul Haq, UC chairman Shakil Labar and others attended the meeting.

Dr Safdar Abbasi demands resignation from Nawaz

MULTAN: Pakistan People’s Party Workers chairman Dr Safdar Abbasi has demanded indiscriminate accountability of all politicians, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PTI chief Imran Khan.
Talking to newsmen here on Monday, he said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lost his credibility. He demanded resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif before the constitution of a judicial commission. Dr Safdar Abbasi claimed that the government was going to levy Rs 250 billion new taxes in the coming budget, which would overburden the general public and working class. He said that the PPPW would launch a countrywide protest against corruption. He said that demonstrations would be held in Lahore on May 18, in Rawalpindi on May 25 and in Multan on June 3. The demonstrations would be staged in other provinces, he added.
Meanwhile, addressing the PPPW workers, Dr Safdar Abbasi said that the party offices would be set up at the tehsil level across the country. He said that the party’s new bodies for Multan city, district and division would be announced on May 25. Naheed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
