TMO directed to resolve sewerage choking issue
From Our Correspondent
JHANG: Taking notice of increasing public complaints, acting DCO Abdul Qadir Shah has directed TMO Asad Shah and Tehsil Officer (I&S) Muhammad Aslam to resolve choking problem of New Eidgah Road’s main sewerage. He also ordered them to submit a report regarding utilisation of funds for the purpose during the last two years.
The officiating DCO having the authority of the TMA administrator had been informed by the locals that huge funds had been released for improvement of main sewerage line of New Eidgah Road during the last two years but no work was done. When contacted, acting District Coordination Officer Abdul Qadir Shah said that the TMA staff was working to resolve the issue. He said that the TMO and the TO (I&S) had been directed to clear their positions.
VIOLATION OF GOVT POLICY: The district administration has forwarded contract extension cases of 58 school health and nutrition supervisors for approval to the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department in violation of the Punjab government policy.
Sources said that the contractual service policy for a gazetted officer had been abolished in 2014 and authority of recruitments on all gazetted posts was entrusted to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). They said that the recruitments on gazetted posts in education and other departments had been done through the PPSC but in the Health Department situation was quite different.
The sources said that the school health and nutrition supervisors (BPS-17) had been recruited at the basic health unit through interview on contract service basis some years ago. Later, to ensure merit and give chance to illegible candidates, the contract service policy had been abolished for gazetted posts and recruitment powers were entrusted to the PPSC, which was still intact. They said that the district administration instead of sending cases of recruitment on gazetted posts of SHNSs of 58 BHUs to the PPSC sent them to the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.
When contacted, District Government Coordination and Human Resource Management District Officer Haroon Rasheed said that contract extension cases of the school health and nutrition supervisors were recommended and received from the Health EDO and the same had been forwarded to the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare secretary for final decision. He further said that the Health EDO was responsible to examine and observe the government policy regarding the matter. Health EDO Dr Zafar Khan claimed that contract cases of school health and nutrition supervisors had been processed on an advice of the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department officials.
