Martyred cop’s family gets house

LAHORE:Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar Monday provided ownership papers to the family members of another police martyr.

The wife, two daughters, and three sons of martyr Constable Ghulam Hassan of Dera Ghazi Khan will now live at a house situated in Gulberg Housing Scheme, Dera Ghazi Khan. The price of the house is more than Rs 14 million.

According to Punjab police spokesman, cop Ghulam Hassan embraced martyrdom in a shootout with wanted criminals on June 9, last year. The IGP made special efforts for the release of funds for the house.

In a statement, the IGP paid rich tributes to the sacrifice of the cop and said the Punjab Police will remember his sacrifice. Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar met police employees and their families and listened to their requests and issued orders for their relief.

Giving instructions to cops during a meeting with the employees at the Central Police Office, the IGP said all supervisory officers should maintain close contact with subordinate staff and spare no effort in resolving their personal and departmental issues.

The IGP directed DIG Establishment II to provide relief on the application of Head Constable Baqir Hussain for departmental promotion. He asked DIG Welfare to provide relief on the request of Constable Muhammad Rashid Shaheed's son, Muhammad Haseeb, regarding admission to a college.

The IGP instructed DIG Establishment to conduct personal hearing of the request of 12 constables regarding their transfer orders to Punjab Constabulary. The IGP instructed the AIG Admin and Security to provide relief on merit to the recruitment request of the son of constable Qudratullah.

He directed DIG Establishment to resolve the issue of driver constable Babar Hussain's transfer request to District Sheikhupura. On the requests relating to discipline, welfare, and professional matters, the IGP also issued orders.
