Girl shot dead at wedding function

LAHORE: A 16-year-old girl was shot dead at a mehndi function in the Manawan area Monday. 

Muhammad Ibrahim, father of the girl identified as Ayesha, said that he along with his family members had come to Ali Park near Rizwan Garden to attend a mehndi function of their relatives. 

They had set up tent on an empty plot and were busy in celebrations when two unidentified suspected motorcyclists approached and resorted to aerial firing.

After a brief interval, they resorted to straight firing. Sensing fear, they ran for life. After sometime, they saw the victim falling on ground in a pool of blood. Police registered a murder case against the unidentified suspects. IG Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a report from the CCPO.

Four battery thieves arrested

Four members of a battery stealing gang have been arrested by Green Town police. The arrested suspects have been identified a Afzal, Shoaib, Ramzan and Zubair. Police also recovered a motorcycle rickshaw, transformer, six batteries, three pistols and bullets from their custody. They would conduct bids in parts of Green Town and Township. They would conduct bids and distribute the loot among themselves.

Tractor-trolley hits boy to death

A 13-year-old boy died in a road accident in the Raiwind area. Reportedly, the victim was a passerby. A speeding tractor-trolley ran over the victim. He received serious injuries and died. A police team reached the spot on information and moved the body to morgue.

Valuables burnt

Valuables reduced to ashes in an incident of fire in a house in the Ichhra area on Monday. Reportedly, a fire broke out in a flat situated at Sultan Ahmad Road. Nearby people tried to control it. However, on failure they called rescue teams. Fire-fighters reached the spot on information and extinguished the fire. It was a congested area and that flat was located upstairs. The rescuers faced problem in controlling the fire. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
