ISLAMABAD: The Federation of Realtors Pakistan has announced nationwide strike on July 15.
Federation President Sardar Tahir Mehmood and General Secretary Ch Zahid Rafiq said Sunday the tax burden on the construction sector was unacceptable. Taxes were imposed which were not even proposed while approving the budget, they claimed.
The Federation leaders in their statement supported strike by the traders on Monday (today). Sardar Tahir and Zahid Rafiq said Clause 7E, which they had demanded to be removed, had created difficulties for the businessmen.
“The government has inserted a new Clause 7F which was not in the proposed budget”, they observed.
An additional tax of 15pc and 10pc has been imposed on developers and builders respectively, which would ultimately be borne by the consumers, they opined.
They said the government's strategy to increase revenue by increasing taxes would fail. “We demand the government to sit with us and consider our proposals. We assure the government collection of Rs1,000 billion tax”, they added.
They advised the government be considerate, otherwise it would face resistance in implementation of its policies.
