The universities in Sindh need to utilise all the resources at their disposal to significantly raise the academic standards and must focus more on research and development by allocating a sizeable portion of the grants received from the Government of Sindh.
This was stated by Chairperson Sindh HEC Prof Dr Tariq Rafi in a meeting of the vice chancellors of the leading public sector universities of Sindh, held at the Sindh HEC office here recently.
Secretary Universities and Boards Department Abbas Baloch was also present at the meeting, according to a press release issued on Friday. Dr Rafi emphasised that the universities should chalk out a comprehensive business, administrative and strategic plan for the next five years to ensure their long-term growth and stability.
“The Sindh HEC is providing unprecedented support to the universities in Sindh through grants, training workshops for teachers, vice chancellors and deans, QA training workshops, technology showcase etc. In turn, we expect the universities to respond positively to our efforts and implement the required measures for the enhancement of education standards at their respective institutions,” the chairperson said.
He further impressed upon the vice chancellors to carry our third-party audits to ensure financial transparency and make it mandatory at their universities to regularly publish research journals and research papers.
