Members of the central committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) on Sunday expressed concern over what they saud prolonged and unannounced power cuts in Karachi as well as overbilling by the K-Electric (KE).
They said the power utility had been causing misery for the people and it did not fulfil its obligation to improve the power supply system. The MQM-P also alleged that the KE staff had been colluding with those using Kundas and the salaried class was being forced to pay for the power theft through overbilling.
The MQM-P called for the federal government to hold the KE accountable and use all resources for the purpose. The party demanded a complete end to the unannounced power cuts and all possible reductions in the duration of announced load-shedding.
