Pakistani researchers receive prestigious British award

Islamabad:A team of Pakistani researchers has been honoured as a member of an Outstanding Team by the prestigious UK’s Medical Research Council (MRC) via “Outstanding Team Impact prize”.

The team comprised Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Laureate, H.I.S.I.T.I., Prof. Dr. Sammer Yousuf and the faculty members of the HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine Drug Research, ICCBs, UoK. The prize is to celebrate an inspiring team whose collaborative science approach has made a major impact in medical research. The recognition is based on research outcomes made being a part of “A Global Network of the Tropical Neglected Diseases (NTD)”, funded by Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) from the Medical Research Council (MRC) and led by the Durham University, UK. The NTD-network was comprising of leading scientists of UK, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, and Pakistan who worked as team against the protozoan NTDs, leishmaniasis and Chagas disease. Prof. Choudhary’s leadership of working together diverse expertise from various scientific backgrounds showcases the outcome of team science towards research related in field of leishmaniaisis, and thus an honour for Pakistan. The academic community of Pakistan congratulated to Prof. Dr. Iqbal Choudhary and his team for being honoured with another prestigious prize.
