LAHORE: Pakistan’s seasoned cueist Asjad Iqbal and Awais Ullah Munir on Sunday blasted their way into the pre-quarter-finals of the Asian 6 Red Men’s Snooker Championship in Riyadh.
Awais Ullah Munir continued his fine run and downed Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn of Thailand 4-3 to advance to the knock-out stage. The frame score was 0-58(58), 69-0(69), 21-33, 31-53, 35-20, 40-0, 45-07.
Asjad Iqbal defeated Arman Dinarvand of Iran 4-1. The frame score was 40-0(40), 33-05, 02-43, 69-0(69), 65-0. He then whacked Ahmed Abul of Kuwait 4-0 to finish as the group leader. The frame score was 71-0(71), 59-01(59), 42-04, 63-0.
In the pre-quarter-finals, Asjad was scheduled to face Ayman Alamri of Iran while Awais Ullah Munair was set to take on Chau Hon Man of Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, in the Under-21 Asian Snooker event Ahsan Ramzan and Mohammad Hasnain Akhtar qualified for the quarter-finals which will be held on Monday (today).
