ISLAMABAD: Justice Athar Minallah, judge of the Supreme Court, has clarified that neither he had complained to anyone for initiating contempt proceedings against Senator Faisal Vawda and MQMP MNA Mustafa Kamal nor had given any opinion about this.

In a letter addressed to Registrar Supreme Court, Justice Minallah said that since 2017, a campaign for ridiculing him was going on, adding that an impression had been created that he had asked for initiating contempt proceeding against both the lawmakers

In his letter, the judge clarified that he did not opt for initiating contempt proceedings against anyone involved in the smear campaign against him.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, the other day accepted an unconditional apology of Faisal Vawda and Mustafa Kamal in the contempt case regarding their press conferences wherein they had targeted the superior judiciary and its judges.
