CHITRAL: After a year of hiatus, the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines resumed flight to Chitral from Islamabad on Saturday.
There was a great euphoria among the people when the PIA plane PK-660 carrying passengers and tourists landed at the Chitral Airport.
Lower Chitral Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Imran along with other officials accorded warm welcome to the passengers, tourists and crew members.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said that the local people would be facilitated in journey to other parts of the country with the resumption of flights on Chitral-Islamabad route besides promoting tourism in the area.
An official of the PIA district office said that currently two flights a week would be run on Saturday and Tuesday to Chitral from the federal capital, which will be enhanced as per the need arise in future. He said that Rs13,500 were being charged per passenger as fare for Chitral-Islamabad.
