Car, cash snatched from Dir residents

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified six armed men snatched cash, car and valuables from two persons at Shah Hassankhel area on CPEC Road, police said on Saturday.

Said Rahman Uthmankhel, 35, a resident of Adinzai tehsil in Lower Dir district, told Shaheed Nawab Police Station that he along with Hayat Khan Uthmankhel was on way to Islamabad from Quetta. He said that when they reached Shah Hassankhel area on CPEC Road, the occupants of a car signaled them to stop.

He said that they stopped as they thought the men were from the Excise Department but later they proved to be robbers armed with sophisticated weapons. He said that robbers came and disembarked them from their car and started collecting cash and other valuables.

The complainant added the robbers snatched Rs0.7 million cash, precious watch, pistol, documents of cars, mobile phones and other valuables. The police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, the local elders have condemned the rising incidents of robbery, target-killing and car snatching, saying that police had left the law-abiding citizens on the mercy of dacoits, car-lifters and robbers.
