KP govt accuses Centre of politicizing operation issue
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesman Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said on Friday that there was no discussion on any operation in the Apex Committee and that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had not backed any.
Speaking at a press conference, he accused the federal government of spreading lies about the military operation and making political gains , thus damaging an important issue such as national security.
“A wrong statement was attributed to KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur which was based on ill intentions,” he said.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, who is also Adviser to Chief Minister on Information, said terrorism was a national issue. “Linking it to one province is was an injustice and akin to promoting bias,” he said.
He said the chief minister had announced holding an all-parties conference which would be convened soon. “All the political parties will be invited to the conference,” added the aide to the chief minister.
Talking of the move by the KP government to form a judicial commission to probe the May 9 incidents, he said the provincial cabinet had given the nod to the body. "The aim of the commission is to unveil facts about the incidents,” he explained.
The KP government spokesman said a letter would be written to the Peshawar High Court chief justice for the commission. “Terms of Reference would be prepared for the commission,” added Barrister Saif.
