TIRANA: Albania´s population has significantly declined in the past decade, dropping by 420,000 in 13 years, mainly due to emigration, said the national census published on Friday.
The population fell from 2.8 million in 2011 to 2.4 million in September 2023.
The decline has been a “continuous trend since the 1990s, mainly due to emigration,” said a report from the Albanian Institute of Statistics. The 2023 census is the twelfth in the last 100 years.
