Abduction case of missing citizen registered on IHC orders

Federal government also sought four weeks for payment of compensation amounting to Rs30 lac to the family of the missing person

ISLAMABAD: Following the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order, KP police have registered a case of abduction of a citizen Haroon Mehmood from KP against the former commandant of Mehsud Scouts.

Haroon Mehmood has been missing for the last 15 years. The court also ordered to provide security to the petitioner.

The petition seeking recovery of missing Haroon Muhammad of KP came up for hearing before a single bench of IHC led by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb Thursday. The Deputy Attorney General (DAG) filed a copy of the FIR in IHC. The FIR mentions officers of intelligence agencies in the report. The incident which occurred in 2009 was registered in Jamrud police station after 15 years.

The federal government also sought four weeks for payment of compensation amounting to Rs30 lac to the family of the missing person. The court accepted the federal government’s plea and remarked if the compensation was not given, the salaries of the defence and finance secretaries would be attached.

Imaan Mazari advocate said the family of the missing person is receiving threats. The court while ordering to ensure the security of the petitioner adjourned the hearing of the case for three weeks.
