Locations identified for installing 1,300 cameras under Safe City Project

Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon, who chaired a review meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi regarding the installation of cameras at selected places under the S-4 and Safe City Project, was informed that locations have been identified for 1,300 cameras to be installed in the first phase of the Safe City Project and the installation of these cameras is going to start soon.

The director general of the Safe City Project also told the meeting that traffic police personnel are also being deployed along with RRF cops at the entry and exit points of the cities, the purpose of which is to monitor traffic measures along with crime prevention and to further improve the traffic flow.

He said sessions are being organised for the training of police personnel for the implementation of a standard system and to perform all the tasks of modern policing. In addition, various proposals are being worked out to link S-4 with safe city project, whose results will be very useful and fruitful for policing in the near future.

IGP Memon said the purpose of the meeting is to review the S-4 project and integrate it with the Safe City Project so that all the issues of modern policing can be strengthened and integrated. He directed that a team should be formed in collaboration with traffic, excise and other departments and this team should be entrusted with the responsibility of forming a databank regarding e-challans. He said the objectives of the Sindh Smart Surveillance System include regulating the traffic system.

He directed the formation of a committee comprising the SSP AVLC, Chief Operating Officer Safe City and PDIT under the chairmanship of the DIG RRF and said the task of the committee is to keep in touch with the NRTC and other authorities and to ensure that all the affairs of the safe city project are monitored.

The meeting was attended by representatives of DIGs of Sindh Headquarters Sindh, CTD DG Safe City, IT, Admin Karachi, Training Sindh, Establishment, RRF, CIA, SP RRF/Chief Operating Officer Safe City Project, SSP AVLC, AIGs, Operations Sindh, Admin, IT, PDIT, DSP Traffic Security and NRTC. The meeting was briefed separately by DIG RRF, DG Safe City, Project Director IT and representatives of the NRTC.
