Man commits suicide due to financial distress

An accountant from a private company committed suicide in the Banaras area of Karachi by hanging himself on account of financial distress and debts.

His body was found hanging in the private company's warehouse near the Valika Hospital in Site A area. Upon receiving the information, police and rescue workers reached the location and transferred the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Hasnain Irtiza, son of Irtiza Hussain Rizvi. According to SHO Farooq Ahmed Sanjrani, it was revealed during the investigations that the deceased man was an accountant at the private company and used to live in North Nazimabad.

Police said that after the work hours on Wednesday, the employees of the company went to their respective homes, but Hasnain, who had the key to the company's door, did not. He tied a noose around his neck and hanged himself from a fan. At the time of the incident, he was alone in the warehouse.

The deceased man’s son informed police that some time ago, his father had suffered a head injury in an accident, after which he would sometimes forgot his way to home. He was also under significant financial stress and had accumulated a lot of debt.

He was also unable to pay the instalments for the car provided to him by the company. After completing the legal procedures, police handed over the body to the family. Further investigations are under way.
