PESHAWAR: Former provincial minister and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader Inayatullah on Thursday said that military operations were no solution to any problem.

Speaking at a press conference here, the JI leader said that the military operation would bring more instability to the region.Thousands of people were displaced, schools and hospitals were destroyed in the previous six military operations but the issue could not be resolved, he added.

“More than 200 hospitals were damaged or destroyed in the previous operations,” he said, adding that the military operations had pushed the country into chaos instead of bringing stability and economic revival.

Inayatullah said that residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were fed up with the existing checkpoints and the government wanted another operation. He demanded a halt to any military operation, adding that the military operation would bring more problems to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During the last 50 years, he said, the government had failed to equip, modernize and strengthen police and FC in the province. He added that the operations would widen the gulf between military and people who were already angry over the previous operations. He said that the tribal districts had no health and education infrastructure and unemployment was on peak.

He held Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government responsible for the loadshedding, adding that the provincial government was doing nothing for resolving the problems in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said that the federal government had to disburse Rs28 billion to KP but the provincial government had not raised this issue properly.
