PA approves Home Department’s demands for grants

In the Punjab Assembly session, Rs974 million were approved for the Home Department

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has approved Punjab Home Department’s all demands for grants for the financial year 2024-25.

According to official documents, the assembly approved Rs187 billion for the Police Department and Rs19bn for the Punjab Prisons Department, on the recommendations of Home Department.

In the Punjab Assembly session, Rs974 million were approved for the Home Department, Rs3.3bn for the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Rs1.2bn for Civil Defence and Rs998 million for Child Protection Bureau.

Across the province, Rs403.6m were approved for the offices of commissioners, Rs796m for the offices of assistant commissioners, over Rs1.113bn for Public Service Commission, Rs262.4m for Circuit Houses across the province and Rs5.7bn were approved for the Finance Department. However, no funds were approved for the Finance Department of south Punjab.

In the budget 2024/25, over Rs4.439bn were approved for the administration of all districts of the province, Rs4.58bn for administration of tehsils and over Rs1.434bn for the divisional administrations.

In the budget, Rs1.4bn were approved for the Advocate General’s Office, Rs113.4m for Solicitors Department, Rs400.6m for special courts, Rs19.74bn for civil courts, Rs14.3bn for sessions courts, over Rs27bn for labour courts, Rs7.08bn for Special Branch, Rs2.72bn for anti-corruption courts, Rs411.9 million for Border Military Police (Dera Ghazi Khan), Rs7.69bn for the CTD, Rs6.57bn for Special Protection Unit of Punjab Police for security of foreigners, Rs9.75bn for Punjab Police Highway Patrol and Rs981.3m were approved for the Elite Police force.
