MUZAFFARABAD: The AJK Legislative Assembly through a unanimously adopted resolution has sought early release of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists who have been languishing in different jails in and outside Kashmir for past several years.

The resolution was moved in the assembly by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Abdul Waheed on the occasion of the International Victim Day (Victim) today. Throwing its support behind the APHC’s call for release of all illegally detained Kashmiri leaders, the House maintained that the influential world governments and institutions must play their due role to ensure immediate release of Kashmiri prisoners including Yasin Malik, Musrat Alam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Naeem Khan, Asia Andrabi, Fahmida Sufi, Nahida Nasreen and others who continue to languish in the Indian jails far away from their homes.

Lauding the sacrifices of Shaheed Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru, Burhan Wani, Abdul Ghani Lone, Mirwaiz Maulvi Muhammad Farooq, Syed Ali Geelani, and other martyrs, the House expressed the optimism that the supreme sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs would reach to fruition soon.

“This House fully supports the APHC’s efforts to galvanize national and international support for the release of Kashmiri prisoners who have been arrested before and after 5th August 2019”, the resolution said.
