Faizan, Fawad stun top seeds in Asian Junior Squash

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Faizan Ali and Fawad Khan stunned top seeds in the under-13 category at the 31st Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship in Islamabad on Wednesday.

In the second round of under-13 category, 14th seed Faizan Ali stunned top seed Wong Ho Kiu from Hong Kong 15-13, 2-11, 11-9, 8-11, 12-10 and 15th seed Fawad Khan won against second seed Vidhurran Ruthiran from Malaysia 9-11, 11-5, 11-9, 11-13, 11-8.

Sohail Adnan thrashed Km Akayne from Sri Lanka 11-0, 11-3, 11-2, Mamoon Khan beat Waynee Isaac from Malaysia 11-4, 11-4, 11-4, and Huzaifa Shahid defeated Dhruv Bopanna from India 11-9, 11-9, 11-4 in the category.

In the under-15 category, Abdullah Zaman won against Yuen Tsz Long from Hong Kong 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-6, Nauman Khan smashed Ali Rahimi from Iran 11-6, 11-7, 11-6, and Abdul Ahad Butt thrashed Wai Pak Lam from Hong Kong 11-3, 11-7, 11-5 in the second round.

In the under-17 category, top seed Abdullah Nawaz thrashed Yongwook Lee from Korea 11-5, 11-6, 11-2, Azan Ali overpowered Renshi Makino from Japan 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-7, and Yaha
