PESHAWAR: The employees of the Agriculture Transformation Plan Project on Wednesday staged a protest in favour of their demands.Holding banners and placards inscribed with their demands, the protesters gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club.
The protesters said that the scheme was still intact in Punjab and Sindh. “The scheme has proved to be very beneficial for the farmers,” said one of the speakers, adding the scheme had been dropped from the ADP which was an injustice to farmers and province.
The protesters said that dropping the scheme from the ADP would not only affect the employees but it would also affect around 183 PhD and researchers associated with the Agriculture Department.
The farmers would also be affected by the decision, they said and asked Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to extend the scheme for the welfare of the farmers. They warned of a protest campaign if the scheme was not included in the Agriculture Development Programme 2024-25 forthwith.
