ALPURI: Work has commenced on the Karoor-Ajmer road, with both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) claiming credit for the project.

PTI central leader and former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai posted the 2019 directive issued by the then chief minister on his social media accounts. Conversely, PMLN also released tenders for the same road on various social media platforms.

According to an official, the programme is funded by the World Bank and will be executed by the provincial government. Many schemes in Shangla have been approved by the provincial government, with inaugurations ongoing. PML-N claims these developmental projects were prioritised during the previous caretaker government.

The people of Shangla demand action regardless of whether PTI or PMLN initiated the work, as road construction is urgently needed in various areas. Shangla has frequently suffered from natural disasters, causing significant damage to roads and infrastructure. Unfortunately, funds meant for restoring damaged infrastructure often get redirected to new schemes due to political manoeuvring, leaving old, damaged infrastructure unrepaired and hindering the area’s development.

Currently, the inauguration of roads in Kana, Puran, and other areas is a hot topic on social media, with PTI and PMLN exchanging criticism and sharing their respective tenders and official documents.
