Looting spree continues in different areas of Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi:Gangsters, continuing their looting spree in different areas of the city, took away millions of rupees in cash, snatched mobile phone set and other valuable after killing two people during the lootings, the police report said.

The residents of Rawalpindi are facing a surge in criminal activity, including thefts, robberies, and kidnapping, with a significant increase in cases reported in the limits of New Town, Bani, Waris Khan, Pirwadhai, and Sadiqabad police stations.

An armed robbery incident occurred in Java, in Chontra area, when the robbers gunned down a victim identified as Javed, resident of Hujra Shah Muqeem, after robbing him of one million rupees and a mobile phone, police report said and added that the robbers fired at Javed before fleeing the scene. Another incident of killing happened in Cantt area when a pedestrian was shot dead while walking on the road. The victim’s identity couldn’t be confirmed, body shifted to DHQ for post-mortem. Cantt Police are investigating the incidents and gathering details.

In Westridge area, three bike riding gangsters opened fire at the Dolphin Force, however, one robber was killed in the crossfire when the police retaliated. The police arrested a wounded robber, while, the third robber fled the scene. The deceased robber has been identified as Nadeem and the arrested robber has been recognised as Shujaat. The police have recovered motorcycle and two pistols used in the crime, police said and added that the motorcycle recovered from the robbers, had been snatched from a citizen in the same area earlier. The robbers were wanted by the Rawalpindi police for multiple crimes.

Meanwhile, a girl was shot and injured on Suham Road, police report said. The girl was standing on the roof when she was hit by a stray bullet. She has been shifted to the hospital. The girl has been identified as 14-year-old Asma. The Taxila dumper mafia has claimed another human life. A woman was crushed to death by a dumper, police said. While, two youths drowned in the Khalsa Dam at Adiala Road on Monday, Rescue-1122 said. The Rescue teams recovered the bodies of the two youths. Despite CPR, the youths could not be saved. The identities of the deceased youths are being confirmed by the rescue authorities.
