Judges, lawyers asked to ensure affordable justice

NOWSHERA: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim on Friday stressed the need for judges and lawyers to collaborate in providing affordable and prompt justice to the public in order to restore their trust.

He expressed these views during his visit to the courts in Nowshera, where he interacted with judicial officers and lawyers. The chief justice visited Nowshera and Pabbi Tehsil Courts, engaging in detailed discussions with judges about judicial matters.

Accompanied by Sessions Judge Muhammad Asif Khan, Senior Civil Judge-Admin Asif Kamal and Judicial Magistrate-I Muhammad Farooq Ahmed, the CJ also toured the Nowshera jail, listened to the prisoners’ issues, and ordered the release of inmates involved in minor cases. Additionally, he directed the Pesco officials to reduce power load-shedding in Nowshera jail.He also directed the police to ensure timely submission of challans in the courts and not to delay the cases on the pretext of investigations.

The chief justice’s visit began with the Pabbi Tehsil Courts, where he met with judges and discussed court affairs in detail. He also visited all the courts and the lawyers’ bar room. Subsequently, he visited the Nowshera District Courts, where he was received by the District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Asif.

During his meeting with the judges, Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim urged them to dedicate their efforts to providing immediate justice to the litigants, aiming to restore their trust in the courts. During his tour of the bar room, he listened to the issues faced by the lawyers and issued immediate directives to address them.
