4,000 animal sacrificed on Eid: Al-Khidmat Foundation

PESHAWAR: The volunteers of Al-Khidmat Foundation sacrificed over 4,000 sacrificial animals worth Rs95.6 million and distributed the meat among deserving people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The details were shared with a meeting held here on Friday with provincial president of the organization Khalid Waqas in the chair. The meeting was also attended by general secretary of the organisation Shakir Siddiqui, district president Arbab Abdul Haseeb, provincial vice-president Hafiz Hameedullah, regional manager Shakeel Ahmad and managers of various sections.

Khalid Waqas said that some 132,700 people were provided with the sacrificial meat. The meat was distributed among orphans, widows, students of religious seminaries, Afghan refugees, patients at hospitals and drug rehabilitation centers, inmates of prisons, street children, thalassemia patients, street children, transgender community and others.

He said that before Eid, they had planned a ‘Qurbani project’ in all the 36 districts of the province and the religious obligation was performed on all the three days of the Eid. He informed that a central camp for overseeing the Qurbani project had been established in the provincial metropolis under the headship of Shakir Siddiqui, who remained in contact with all the district presidents of the organization to supervise the project.

He said that a record quantity of hides of sacrificial animals were also collected this year. For this purpose, he said, camps had been set up in all the districts. He said that the money received from the hides is spent for relief activities in service of the deserving humanity.
