LAHORE The Young Nurses Association (YNA) has protested and staged a sit-in outside Chief Minister's House at Club Chowk on Thursday against the arrest of a nurse in Khanewal. A staff nurse Aqsa was arrested for allegedly committing negligence, resulting in the death of children in Khanewal hospital.

The nurses stopped working in outdoor and indoor wards of hospitals all over Punjab, and also gathered at Club Chowk to stage a sit-in for the release of staff nurse and apprehending the real culprits involved in procuring substandard medicines in hospitals. The Young Nurses Association leaders said that the health secretary failed to hold negotiations with the nurses, which led nurses to withdraw their services in all hospitals across the province. The Young Nurses Association warned that the protest will continue until the suspension of CEO Khanewal and the release of staff nurse. The Young Nurses Association earlier postponed the sit-in due to Eid holidays.

Following no signs of negotiations, the nurses of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Children's Hospital, Services Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, General Hospital, Lady Wellington Hospital as well as from across the province reached outside the Chief Minister's House.
