Many people armed with a cell phone and a social media account are now engaging in blackmailing and providing false and incorrect information. Unlike proper journalists, these individuals often lack the principles and ethics that reporting demands. They operate with no degree or licence, regularly exploiting the energy of social media to control and intimidate.
The proliferation of these fake journalists undermines the integrity of legitimate media and poses a critical danger to the credibility of news reporting in Pakistan. It is critical for the authorities and the people to differentiate between actual reporters and impostors.
